Rolex watches feature two sets of identification numbers... a Serial Number and a Case Reference Number.
On modern Oyster cases (excluding the OysterQuartz),
these numbers are engraved between the lugs, hidden behind the end pieces (as shown in the images below). Rolex Style Number
In the list that weâve presented below, youâll be able to find each Rolex serial number together with a year. To simply find your serial number, look at the list to find the serial number that your watch has, and then look at the year that is connected to it. Additionally, Rolex serial number is typically sequential from the year 1926 to the middle of 1987 â and you can as well determine the production year in a simple reference table (more about this below). The following list is of known Rolex serial numbers for the years listed. By checking a particular serial number against this list you should be able to date a watch with reasonable accuracy. However, it is no guarantee as to when the Rolex watch was shipped from the factory.
Furthermore, this list only applies to Rolex Oyster-cased watches, and should NOT be used for Tudor, or vintage non-Oyster Rolex watches.
